Case Study: A Quick Turnaround Recruitment Solution For An Urgent Renewable Energy Project

The client’s challenge

A client had an urgent project, and they required a whole new team to be able to deliver it on time. It was beyond the organisation’s internal capabilities to recruit for such a sizeable team within the tight timelines. These roles were particularly hard to recruit for as the organisation wanted to attract new graduates to the project, which involved Biomass energy. Biomass can be considered a controversial source of renewable energy for some. Therefore, the client was concerned that the type of project may cause issues in attracting the right talent.

The organisation had used VIQU Energy’s services many times previously for a variety of energy roles and trusted their abilities to carry out the process effectively, so they approached the team directly about an exclusive contract to fill 9 roles for the project team.

Actions taken by VIQU Energy

As the organisation already had an established relationship with VIQU Energy, the team were able to step in quickly to help devise a recruitment campaign that worked well for the project and aligned with the candidate pool the organisation was looking to attract.

In order to facilitate a quick turnaround time from interviewing to onboarding for all roles, VIQU Energy’s team played a very active role in the recruitment process.

  • Met with the organisation’s hiring manager to devise an attractive EVP offering to attract new graduates to the roles

  • Conducted all pre-screening calls to shortlist the most suitable candidates for the roles

  • Performed both first-stage interviews and competency-based interviews using the questions agreed upon by the hiring manager, and created detailed notes to give to them

  • Organised assessment days for successful candidates to further vet their competencies for the roles

The outcomes

By immediately stepping in and ramping up their recruitment resources for this project, VIQU Energy were able to keep momentum high early on in the process. The team were able to attract 33 fantastic new graduate candidates for the project. Thanks to the team playing such an active role in vetting and carrying out competency-based interviews, all 9 roles were filled within 1 month.

As the team were able to carry out additional services, such as the first-stage interviews and organising assessment days, it meant that the organisation didn’t need to worry about the time-consuming administrative side of recruitment and instead were able to focus on making the best hiring decisions for the team.

Due to the fast-hiring time, the project was able to start without delay and the organisation have continued their working partnership with VIQU Energy since then.
